Covid Vaccination India

Covid Vaccination India

In the beginning, there was a single vaccination program for diphtheria and pertussis. It was introduced in India in the year 1979 with the implementation of Public Health Action Plan. India had been fighting with various kinds of epidemics like diphtheria, scabies, measles, etc. With this new vaccination, the country’s health ministry realized that the eradication of these diseases was only possible through mass immunization. Hence, they decided to make a comprehensive documentation on every person who was registered in the immunization campaign and offering them with a certificate so that the disease could be prevented from spreading.

Today, the diseases that were eradicated through vaccination are not easily found in India anymore. However, with the help of the Indian council for Global Health, every child who has been immunized is given with a certificate. Today, India is one of leading countries in the field of public health, because the health service delivery system has really improved. The government is now focusing on improving the quality of the health service delivery system with the help of the National Health Mission.

The vaccinating programs have been improved in terms of coverage and accessibility. Previously, the children who had not been immunized were sent to other countries like China and Pakistan. Today, all the children who are below five years of age are being immunized. In the earlier period of immunization in India, the children did not receive the entire course of immunizations; rather, they received a few injections on the basis of age, sex, location and vaccination schedule. This resulted in a lot of adverse reactions in children.

One of the major improvements in the Immunization Program in India is that now the country is offering the whole course of the vaccine at its centralized location. In addition to that, the clinical staffs are well trained and equipped to offer the required immunization services. Earlier, the clinical staffs and the workers used to be ignorant about the vaccine. Today, all the clinical staffs are well vaccinated and completely knowledgeable about the vaccine.

The second phase of the project was also very successful. This phase introduced the new combination vaccines, which gave a better result rate. Moreover, the study also showed that the new combination vaccines have reduced the number of deaths due to diseases. A big boom has happened in the field of immunology infrastructure in the country. Due to these major achievements, India has emerged as a hub for vaccine manufacturing and distribution.

With the recent amendments made to the Indian Immunization Program, more children can now be saved from life-threatening diseases. However, still there are some problems and setbacks that need to be resolved. The government is trying to accelerate the deployment of the vaccines and make all the regions in the country fully vaccinated.
